“My mission is to foster a new environment in Canada’s journalism industry in which Indigenous, Black and racialized journalists at all stages of their careers feel psychologically safe and can take for granted the legitimacy and worthiness of their perspectives and communities.”

Ghanaian-born and Canadian-raised, Nana aba Duncan is the founder and executive director of the Media Girlfriends podcasting company and is the Carty Chair of Journalism, Diversity and Inclusion Studies at the School of Journalism and Communications at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Nana aba’s media work and academic research lie at the intersection of journalism, race and leadership.
